Coffee anyone?
When the Food Tech teacher at Bromley Trust Academy was approached by the Careers Leader with a scheme to introduce a brand-new qualification for some Year 11 students, she immediately said YES! After spending their half terms learning a new subject themselves and designing a scheme of work, 6 students were selected to take part in a Barista project. Working in partnership with Bromley Beacon Academy, students were taught the theory at BTA but took their final exams on the state-of-the-art machines at BBA. Since February 2024, staff and students have gained a total of 16 qualifications and most importantly the students have a new skill that will enable them to gain employment immediately.
The project has been supported by funding received from the Local London Careers Hub East Careers Impact Fund and the support the Headteachers of Bromley Trust Academy and Bromley Beacon Academy and the amazing Food Tech teachers at both schools.
