Please read on to find out about the activities that took place at BTA during our virtual Careers week in April 2021
The Careers Leader successfully applied to the Mayor of London for the Careers Booster Fund and appointed The Changing Education Group to provide a week of Virtual Work Experience from 26 – 29 April.
Year 10 students started their working week with daily briefings, from live recorded videos from people in industry, motivational speakers and some meditation. A task was set by Jason Thomas from the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB), to research ways to bring the crowds back, safely, to local football clubs who have been closed during the pandemic which has resulted in a huge loss of revenue.
The students worked as a team to consider the many different possibilities and decided to make a video of their pitch, ‘Love Actually’ style using picture cards to allow as many students as possible to take part.
Wanting to check their ideas were on the right track, the Community Manager from Bromley FC was invited to ‘zoom’ in to watch the pitch, ask questions and give feedback.
Afterwards he wrote, “It was humbling to see how much effort and thought had gone into the presentation”. The final presentation was delivered in front of the Head of School, Head of Year and Head of Business – no pressure then!
The presentation was recorded and sent to The Changing Education Group to be entered into the competition to win the prize of a trip to Wembley for an access all areas tour.
The Year 10s engaged with the Virtual WEX all week, faced their fears and have all gained valuable experiences that will help them for years to come. We won’t find out if they have won the prize for some time, but watch this space for updates.
