Please read on to find out more about Children's Mental Health Week - February 2021

This year, in 2021, Children's Mental Health Week will take place from February 1st to February 7th.

What is Children's Mental Health Week?

Its aim is to highlight the importance of mental health within children and young people.

Mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. They include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder, and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives.

Good mental health allows children and young people to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults.

What is the theme of the week?

The theme of Children's Mental Health Week this year is 'Express Yourself'. The aim is to encourage children to express themselves in a variety of ways. For example, expressing yourself can be about sharing your feelings, thoughts and ideas through creativity.

It's all about finding a way to show other people who you are and how you feel. It's about showing how you see the world and finding a way to 'express yourself' which feels good to you. Expressing yourself in a way that's unique to you is a great way to improve mental wellbeing.
